13 Total Points Toward OCHI Exam Requirements:

3 days of Classroom Instruction (30 Hours)
10 Points

2 In-Field Practice Home Inspections
2 Points

Recommendations from OCHI Trainers
1 Point

Our Training Program has Three Aspects:

First   Order the Home Study materials, Principles of Home Inspection:  Systems & Standards Textbook & 8 CD ROM Reference Volume.  As you study, you will become familiar with the standards, methods and systems of Home Inspections.

Second   Attend three days of Classroom Instruction. Our Power Point Presentation combined with Hands On Demonstrations with Actual Components allows you to expand upon your home study.

Third   Join other students and the trainers on two In-Field Home Inspections at properties in the Portland area.  You will combine techniques of the Inspection and Report process.

Principles of Home Inspection: Systems & Standards

Topics Covered:
Systems:  Exteriors, Roofing, Structure, Insulation, Interiors, Electrical Systems, Furnaces and Heating Systems, Hot Water Heaters, Wood Heating, AC and Heat Pumps, Plumbing, Appliances

The Inspection Process, Report Writing, Tools, Marketing and Starting Your Business.

Advantages of Training with PIE:

You'll experience Two In-Field Inspections and both are approved with the OCHI / CCB for Ride Along Points.  Other training schools may have fees for actual in-field inspection ride-alongs.

PIE training gives you ASHI based standards with an Oregon Standards of Practice Emphasis, this better prepares you to take the OCHI exam.

Dearborn Text:  Systems & Standards:  Principles of Home Inspection has quality extensive and detailed diagrams of the inner workings of every system discussed in the text (see list above), with definitive explanations of each system and the methods for inspecting them.  In addition, the accompanying book: Systems and Standards Review Questions and Answers is excellent review and test preparation tool.  We know of no other text series that is as in-depth and comprehensive as the Dearborn texts.   The Dearborn produced 8 CD-Rom or Video reference media is dozens of hours of additional narrative and visual instruction for overview, reinforcement, perspective and review on every system discussed in the training and text.

Small class size, which means more instructor interaction for our students.

Local Trainers who are a phone call or email away to assist you with follow up.  Because we are also full time Certified Inspectors as well, we offer you a 'real-world' perspective of training.

Our 4 day program along with at-home study of the texts and media is designed to give you an opportunity to make the transition to the career of Home Inspections with minimal time away from your current schedule.  Our training will give you a thorough preparation for the OCHI Exam and a solid foundation to begin your Inspection Business.  You may spend more time in class with other training schools, and only you can decide if that is necessary for you; but, with PIE you walk away from training with more points, and that means less time that you spend acquiring those points elsewhere.

PIE Full Training Programs prepare you to perform quality inspections and produce quality reports that give your Inspection business a competitive edge, no 'test prep course' alone can give you that experience.

Textbook study is excellent and necessary; but, nothing compares to the live interaction of Hands-On In-Class Training, In-Field Inspections, and in-person advice for starting your business.

We'd be pleased to assist you in your career transition.  If you have more questions, just call or email, we'd be happy to speak with you.

Course Fee:  $2,595 Includes:
Systems & StandardsText
8 CD rom Study Media,
3 day In-Class Instruction (30 Hours)
2 In-Field Inspections
Trainer / Inspector Recommendations
